Sports Massage - Woodhall Spa
Helping golfers move better, recover faster, and stay on the course longer.
Feel the Difference on Every Round
Golf might not look like the most physically demanding sport from the outside, but any golfer knows the toll it takes on your body. Repetitive rotation, hours on your feet, and the explosive demands of a powerful swing all add up — and without the right recovery, they can lead to stiffness, pain, and injury that keeps you off the course.
That's where sports massage comes in. Based at the National Performance Centre at Woodhall Spa Golf Club, our therapist David Smith works specifically with golfers to help you recover properly, move more freely, and perform at your best — round after round.
Why Sports Massage is Different
Unlike a standard relaxation massage, sports massage is targeted and purposeful. David uses deep tissue techniques and trigger point therapy to address the specific areas that golfers put under stress — your thoracic spine, hips, shoulders, and forearms. The result isn't just feeling better the next day; it's a body that moves more efficiently through the swing.
What It Can Do for Your Golf
Improve Your Swing Mechanics Tightness in your hips, thoracic spine, or shoulders directly limits your rotation and swing path. Releasing those restrictions gives you access to movement you didn't know you were missing — and more consistency as a result.
Increase Your Range of Motion Golf demands a full, repeatable range of motion through your swing. Regular massage keeps your muscles and soft tissue flexible, so you're not fighting your own body on the course.
Speed Up Recovery Whether you've just played 36 holes, finished a tough gym session, or you're working through a niggle, sports massage reduces inflammation and muscle soreness so you can get back to doing what you love sooner.
Reduce Your Injury Risk Many common golf injuries — golfer's elbow, lower back pain, rotator cuff issues — are the result of accumulated tension and movement restrictions. Staying on top of your soft tissue health is one of the most effective ways to stay injury-free long term.
Your Therapist
David Smith has over 11 years of experience as a sports massage therapist and is based at the National Performance Centre at Woodhall Spa Golf Club. He shares the same philosophy as SV Golf Performance — that real results come from understanding the body and treating the cause, not just the symptoms. Whether you're a club golfer looking to manage a niggle or a competitive player focused on peak performance, David will tailor every session to your needs.

Booking is simple — just click below to choose a time that works for you at Woodhall Spa Golf Club.
It is important to ensure massage is suitable and safe for you to have, as some medical and health conditions can mean this is not the best thing for you. Therefore you will be required to fill in a short health questionnaire prior to your first treatment. This will be sent to you prior to your first session for you to complete and only takes a few minutes.
This depends on your goals, schedule, and budget. For general maintenance, every 4 weeks is a good guideline. If you're recovering from an injury, weekly or fortnightly sessions may be recommended initially, with the gap between sessions increasing as your recovery progresses.
You'll need a debit or credit card to secure your booking, but nothing is charged until after your session. On the day, you're welcome to pay by card or cash.
Please let me know as soon as possible if you need to cancel or rearrange. Cancellations made within 24 hours of your appointment will incur a 50% charge and missed appointments without notice will be charged at 75% of the session fee.
